Water consumption in the world of fashion
Did you know that it takes 2,720 liters of water to make a single cotton T-shirt, which is the equivalent of the amount a person drinks in three years?
World Water Day was recently celebrated, and today I'm going to suggest some actions to reduce excessive water consumption:
1. Bet on organic cotton

Cotton requires enormous amounts of water; producing organic cotton requires 91 percent less.
2. Invest in low-water jeans

When producing jeans, one of the areas with the highest water consumption is the washing and finishing phase, so pay attention to how these jeans are made; the most transparent brands today will tell you how.
3. Say no to polyester

When washed, polyester releases millions of plastic microfibers that cause water pollution and environmental impact. Choose recycled polyester, which is less harmful.
4. Find out where the materials of the clothes you buy come from.

If you know where textiles were made, you can get an idea of how they affect the area's water reserves.
5. Make more responsible use of leather

Look for brands that use suppliers committed to reducing water and chemical use in the production of their garments.
6. Wash clothes less

Every time we wash clothes, we consume a lot of water, and it has a high impact on the environment. Therefore, wash clothes only when necessary and when they really need it.
